I did it!!!

I finished my first 5K race! ((Technically its not my first 5K since I ran cross country in high school. But it is my first 5K in over a decade (since 2001, to be precise). So I think it counts.)) Well, I did walk a few times (3) but only for a very short time each time.

But, I achieved my goal and actually finished in under 30 minutes! (29:57, but who’s counting? 🙂 )

It was so much fun and I am so proud of myself for finishing the Couch-to-5K program after having started and abandoned it so many times. I actually started to tear up during the first mile today when I thought about how far I’ve come – but it made it harder to run, so I stopped that nonsense.

After I crossed the finish line and the DreadBrewer congratulated me and told me how proud he was of me, the day’s awesomeness continued! We (along with the Littlest Brewster and DB’s mom) had breakfast at Whole Foods (Tofu scramble! Yum!) and did a little shopping. Then, we got to float about in the pool all afternoon. And up next, DB and I are going to grill out some absolutely gorgeous filets ((DB wants me to point out that they are grain-fed, antibiotic- and hormone-free pieces of deliciousness from The Meat House. It is the place to buy special occasion steaks.)) and have a nice romantic dinner.

And then tomorrow, Schmiddie, Suzy, and Alan are coming!

Best. Weekend. Ever.

Here are some pics from the run today: ((DB was great and snapped a bunch like I told him to – he’s great on camera duty.))

fun run 6

Coming up to the finish… ((I was not the only person left on the course, even though it looks like that.))
