First trip to the beach

This past weekend, we took the Littlest Brewster to the beach for the first time! ((I know there are those of you who are like, “Dang! Didn’t you guys just go on vacation?!?!” Well, yes, but this wasn’t a true “vacation” – it was just a long weekend. So don’t go thinking we’re made of money and jetting off the Caribeano every few days…)) My family has had the same time share in Cherry Grove, SC for almost 30 years; I’m really excited that LB gets to grow up going to the same beach where I spent my childhood, even if the area has changed a lot since I was a kid.

Jessie and John flew out for the week, which was awesome! My sister is one of my best friends in the whole wide world and I don’t get to see her nearly enough. And since my mom and dad were there, I had plenty of time to hang out with Jessie while they supervised LB. Jessie’s due in November with twins and she has the most adorable baby bump ever! ((Well, naturally I think my baby bump was cuter, but I’m vain like that. So I guess she has the most adorable current baby bump. 🙂 )) Jessie and John seem pretty calm and collected about the impending arrival of two babies, so kudos to them! I doubt I would be as tranquil about it as they are.

The DreadBrewer, John, and my dad went to go play golf one morning, which was like heaven for DB. I asked John if they had a good time and he said it was fabulous because DB’s a terrible golfer but that he doesn’t care and has a really, really good time anyway. Which is true. I thought about playing nine with DB the next day but decided I’d rather lounge on the beach and work on my tan.

LB did pretty well on the beach for short periods of time. A little over an hour seemed to be the maximum time that she’d tolerate the sun and the sand and the wind. We’d go out in the early morning and play in the tide pool for 45 minutes or so, then play in the swimming pool for another 30 minutes. And then she would be ready to go upstairs for a bottle and a nap. We’d then repeat the process after lunch. I never did figure out how to keep LB from putting her sandy hands in her mouth, but it didn’t seem to bother her too much so I ended up just letting it go.

And here’s why I really wanted to write this post – a photo dump of pictures from the trip! ((If you can’t figure it out on your own – click on any of the pictures to see it larger.))
