Yesterday, I completed my second 5K with my buddies Cris and Amy!!
In March, they ran in the Dirty Girl 5K Mud Run and it
was entirely too damn expensive fell on a weekend when I was out of town. Not wanting to be left out of the fun, I convinced them that we should sign up for a nice, normal, inexpensive 5K run in April. So Amy found us the Triangle Run to Remember benefitting the Alzheimer’s Association of NC, which is appropriate as DB’s aunt has early-onset Alzheimers.
I know that, in the weeks leading up to the race, each of us was worried that we would be the “slow” one, the one to hold the others back. But in the end, it didn’t matter if one of us was slower than the others or needed to walk for a bit. We did it together and we had a really good time doing it.
And of course, Cris’ little boy begged and pleaded to run the race with us and, when she acquiesced, did better than any of us did. Beaten by a 9 year old…
Running in a 5K race is so much more fun than just running a 5K, I may become a race junkie!
