A couple of quick photos/happenings I wanted to share with you all.
Who knew that blackberries had such pretty flowers?
They don’t have an obvious fragrance and they don’t last very long, but we were all gratified to see that our plants are already blooming and covered in such lovely flowers. Hopefully this means we’ll get a ton of berries this year as LB is currently berry-obsessed.
Look at this little guy/girl we have living under an old patio table!
I was sitting in the chair, tanning my chub, when I noticed some movement out of the corner of my eye and there he was! DB and I quickly relocated him back under the table and out of the sun. DB says he’s seen the frog off and on all spring, so I’m hoping he’ll be a permanent resident. Unless of course LB finds him and loves him to pieces…
I can’t believe it but our asparagus is already up and ferning! I’ll snap a few pictures for when I get around to doing a garden update, but both the DreadBrewer and I were very surprised that they’ve taken off so quickly. I guess it really does pay to invest in quality plants from quality growers.
I recently tried two new recipes from Weelicious in the hopes of finding some more quick and easy meal ideas to share. Unfortunately both of them (the Chicken Parmesan Meatloaf Bites and the Spinach Gnocch-wee) were epic fails and the Littlest Brewster wanted nothing to do with them. Actually, the Spinach Gnocch-wee never even made it to the testing phase as they disintegrated in the pot. But the chicken bites got a definite thumbs-down. I’m not defeated, however. I’ll keep searching for toddler-approved recipes to try and share and will let you know if/when I find any.
I’m going to try making banana-oatmeal cookie things this afternoon, so we’ll see how that goes.
We ordered a swing set from BJs a couple of weeks ago and it finally arrived yesterday!!!! My dad really wants to be involved in putting it together, which means we have to wait to start assembling it until he can come up this weekend. The DreadBrewer also really wants to be involved in putting it together and can hardly contain himself, which means I have to police him until this weekend so he doesn’t sneak out and start building things.
I am nearly beside myself with excitement, as hanging out on the swing set has always been one of my favorite ways to spend an afternoon. Throughout my entire life, my mom and I would go out to the swing to talk about whatever weighty problems I was facing and I can’t wait to share that with LB.
And after seeing pictures of my friend Julie’s kids enjoying their new swing set (to the point of falling asleep in the sandbox), I can hardly contain my impatience to have the thing assembled! I’ll share pics as soon as we get it put together.
I think that covers all the bits of random I wanted to share. Have a great day! 🙂
