First weigh-in after getting Back on the Wagon and there was some serious progress this week!
Last week, I started at 172.4 lbs (although I actually weighed myself at the end of my Farewell to Fat day and it was supposedly up to 177.4, but I decided not to count that. 🙂 )
This morning, when I got on the scale, it was down to 168.6! That’s 3.8 lbs down this week!
And yes, I know that 3.8 lbs is faster than the recommended “healthy” weight loss rate, but everyone knows that your first week is a big weight-loss. It’s God’s way of keeping you motivated to keep on keepin’ on.
I’m really digging the MyFitnessPal app. I like seeing how many calories I have left for the day and how many calories I earn through exercise. (More often than not, I’m trying to figure out how long I would have to run in order to earn another beer or glass of wine!)
I told the DreadBrewer yesterday – this is the first week in I don’t remember when that I have tracked not only what I ate, but also how much I ate. Apparently writing everything down motivates you not only to eat less and but also to eat healthier, particularly if you’re doing so in a public arena. Imagine that.
I will say that one thing I prefer about WeightWatchers over just calorie counting is the idea of your “Weekly Points Allowance.” On MyFitnessPal, if you’re under your calorie allotment for the day, it doesn’t let you roll them over or save them up for a splurge. With WeightWatchers, you have a certain allotment of “points” to dole out day by day or use in one fell swoop on something decadent. But I guess that’s something I’ll just have to learn to deal with.
Not every week will be this successful, I’m sure. But nothing motivates me to keep going like seeing some results at the outset. Hopefully the motivation sticks around when I don’t feel like going to the gym or picking the salad over the cake…
