Alas, it’s back to the grindstone tomorrow after what should have been a nice relaxing weekend. And I can honestly say that I’m looking forward to going back to work and getting a break from all of the manual labor the DreadBrewer contrived for us to do this weekend.
Here’s the quick and dirty of what we accomplished in just three short days:
-Amend and till the pepper bed
-Plant the peppers
-Cage the tomatoes
-Seed more beans
-Add soil to the potato bags
-Trellis the hops
-Weed whack inside and outside the fence
-Mow the front lawn (riding mower)
-Push mow behind the berry beds and around the swing set
-Install landscaping stones around the fig and mulch
-Stain the inside of the fence (we only got 20% done before we ran out of stain – but 20% of 400 linear feet of fence is quite an accomplishment)
-Assemble the DripWorks Irrigation for the garden (we only got 30% done before we ran out of time)
The weekend also involved two trips to both Home Depot and Lowe’s and quite a bit of outlay for supplies…
The fig in particular turned out really well and I’m glad we finally did it. I was thinking of planting some day lilies along the fence but haven’t yet as a) they’re not edible and I have a hard time spending my time tending things that I can’t eat and b) I’m tired of spending money at Lowe’s.
We also managed to squeeze in a cook out with DB’s mom to celebrate Memorial Day. And we did our usual Saturday grocery shopping as well. And all of this was done with a willful toddler in tow.
Frankly, I’m dead on my feet. I don’t think I can take many more of these relaxing 3-day weekends with the DreadBrewer! Thank God the 4th of July is on a Thursday this year… 😉
