I can’t believe I’ve been doing this – actually doing it – for 4 weeks now! This is the longest that I’ve actually tracked what and how much I’ve eaten since 2011, which may explain why I haven’t lost any weight (permanently) in that intervening time period.

I’m still making it a point to exercise at least 5 days a week, which helps a lot with the weight loss. I’ve actually gotten to the point where I’m kind of panicked if I don’t exercise, only because I know that then I don’t get any extra calories for the day! I also like exercising first thing in the morning, just so that I know exactly how many extra calories I have to play with. I have not added in weights or strength training like I said I would last week, so something to work on in the coming week.
Speaking of the coming week, I’ve got a couple of hurdles coming up. First is a goodbye dinner for a colleague of mine this Thursday, at a super swanky Southern-cooking restaurant. (Fried green tomato BLT, anyone?) Next up is wing fest. We’d been planning to have a grilled buffalo wing bonanza during my aunt Meme’s visit this weekend. Unfortunately, her visit has been postponed but wing fest is still on for Saturday night. Bring on the buffalo wings! Even though we are grilling rather than frying them, the sauce is still kind of decadent.
And given my progress recently, I decided it was high time to work on my self-confidence a little bit. So yesterday I dug out a dress that I had bought almost a year ago and never worn because I was convinced I was too fat and too frumpy to pull it off. What do you think?
I’ll admit I was a little self-conscious most of the day, but I didn’t take it off or change back into my shorts and T-shirt.
