Well, that was a bust.

The DreadBrewer never leaves town without me. Well, he does but it happens, like, once a year. Maybe twice if I’m lucky.

Not that I don’t love him and love being at home with him. I do. It’s just that sometimes I want a night or two at the house on my own, even if it means LB-wrangling solo.

Yesterday was one of those rare times that DB was going to be out of town overnight and I was going to be on my own! And joy of joys, it coincided with my day off work!! Amazing!

I had serious plans for shopping and running and playing with my pictures and my blog on the computer. I was going to meet a friend for lunch. I was going to cook something delicious after the Littlest Brewster went to bed. I thought I might get a horrible rom-com from Redbox that DB would never deign to watch. It was going to be epic.

When I got up with the DreadBrewer at 3:30 to see him off to the airport ((Yes, I know. I’m a kickass wife.)) I had a horrific headache. But I figured it was the 2nd glass of wine I had last night, so I took some ibuprofen and went back to bed.

My head still hurt when I got up but whatever. Nothing some coffee wouldn’t fix. I futzed around and posted my weight loss update and then got the Littlest Brewster off to daycare and headed to the gym. Where I had big plans.

I wanted to see if I could run for a whole hour if I went at a slower pace than usual. And I did!!!

Look at the distance in the upper right!

I didn’t feel too bad while I was running, but I guess that was the endorphins. After I showered and left the gym, my headache came back with a vengeance. And my back was friggin’ killing me. But I figured my back hurt from running and I soldiered on. I had a lunch date, after all.

During which I nearly shook to death because I was so cold. Angie agreed with me that it was cold in there, so again, I thought nothing of it. After 45 minutes or so, however, my back hurt so bad that I called it quits and decided to head home for a nap.

But I couldn’t sleep! My head hurt, my back hurt, I was cold, I was hot, ibuprofen didn’t help, the heating pad didn’t help. And then it occurred to me to use the incredibly fun and easy ear thermometer we got for the Littlest Brewster.

And sure enough, it was 100.9 in one ear and 101.0 in the other. An hour after 600mg of Motrin.

My night that was supposed to be so much fun all by myself was instead spent feeling crappy and trying to keep from giving the Littlest Brewster any of my nasty germs.

I tried to take a nice soak in the tub, but that was cut short because the Littlest Brewster was having a hard time going to sleep. Due to the fact that she had a 3 1/2 minute bath and only one verse of a bedtime song and no story because Mommy couldn’t handle any more than that, perhaps?

At least I know that the DreadBrewer has one more business trip planned for the year – I’ll just have to make sure I don’t get sick while he’s gone that time.
