Addendum to 28 Week Update

A couple of things I needed to add to my 28 week update post from yesterday:

1) Oh joy of joys, I found a half-slip shorts thing at Target yesterday that is infinitely better than the DreadBrewer’s boxers. Bonus: it was on sale for 30% off! It’s by Jockey and it’s sleek enough that I can actually wear it under all my pants, not just the loose ones. I am beyond excited about these things.

2) I passed my glucose tolerance test with flying colors. Which is awesome, but now I have to rely on my own willpower to avoid the honey buns rather than being able to blame it on the doctor. But that’s a trade I’d take any day. They repeated a CBC on me and my platelets are low (have been this far), so we’re just going to keep monitoring them every 4 weeks.

3) Every single person I’ve spoken with about it tells me I’m trying to do too much and I need to take it easier these last 12 weeks of pregnancy and that it doesn’t make me a terrible wife and mother. My friend Kristen and my SIL Sarah, who have both had two kids, told me I’m not crazy and that the second pregnancy is harder and it doesn’t mean I’m a wuss or a pregnant princess if I’m exhausted by the end of the day and need to ask the DreadBrewer to take over some things. Which is basically the same thing DB has been telling me for weeks but sometimes you have to hear it from your girlfriends before you believe it. So I am going to try to relax a bit and relinquish some control. Easier said than done, I’m sure, but I’m going to give it a shot.

4) I had an OB visit this morning and asked my doc about the cramping/pain in the evenings and the heartburn. He recommended trying Prilosec for the heartburn, so we’ll see if that makes a difference. As to the cramping I’m having, that is apparently normal for a second pregnancy. (See point #3 above) He said he thought he had warned me about the increased discomfort at my first visit but may have forgotten. Oops, right? So it looks like, again per point #3 above, I need to scale it back a bit. Dang, I hate when the DreadBrewer is right!
