How time flies – BIT is already one month old! What is our Brewster-In-Training up to?
Weight/Height: Per our home scale, she’s up to 11.2 pounds! That’s an average of 0.9 ounces of weight gain a day! Good jiminy jominy, she’ll be a sumo baby if this keeps up. Luckily she’s also added another 1/2 inch, bringing total height (or should I say length since she technically can’t stand?) to 22 1/2 inches. (For the math nerds among you, that’s an average growth of 0.85 millimeters a day. If this same rate of growth continued, BIT would grow 12 inches in her first year – so I’m assuming she’ll slow down at some point.)
Clothes/Diapers: Firmly in the 0-3 month clothes but we’ve started to transition to size 2 Pampers, as the size 1s were getting a little snug on our chunky monkey.
Sleep: As best I can tell, BIT likes to wake up around 6:00 am, be up off and on most of the morning, take an epic nap midday, be up off and on most of the evening, and go to bed for the night around 7:00 pm. She’ll then take a bottle around 10:15, again at 3:00, and then up at 6:00 to start the whole process over. During the day, she naps mainly in her swing or the BabyHawk if she’s frotzy and I need to get stuff done. At night, she’s in her crib.
Eating: BIT’s taking about 3 1/4 ounces of Similac every 3 hours during the day, then twice overnight. (So 25ish ounces a day.) Now and then, she’ll act like she’s ravenous before three hours and then only drink 2 ounces of the bottle and pass out. She’s wily like that and likes to keep me on my toes. She is a terribly messy eater – it dribbles all down her chin, which drives me crazy. BUT she hardly ever spits up (unlike the Littlest Brewster, who was a terribly spitty baby) so I guess that’s a trade off I’m willing to make.
General Personality: The Littlest Brewster was a super outgoing, very social baby and the Brewster-In-Training seems to be a lot more laid back than her sister was. She has started to smile occasionally, which is really gratifying and makes the hard parts of parenting slightly less obnoxious. She’s also a super-snuggler and is happiest when she’s being held. This is so completely different from how I remember LB as a baby that I’m having a bit of a time adjusting to it. But I’ve found that she is happier and I am happier when I let her be who she is (a cuddler) rather than trying to force her into being a more independent baby. I’m sure that trying to keep from comparing the girls (favorably or not) will be an ongoing struggle for both me and the DreadBrewer.
