Yet again, another month has flown by! BIT is officially 3 months old – out of the “4th Trimester”!
That means she should be self sufficient, right?
Just kidding. But she is starting to be marginally more fun, which is a great relief to everyone in the house.
Except perhaps for LB, as BIT is getting ever closer to stealing her toys. We actually had an incident where BIT wanted to chew on the Littlest Brewster’s Lady Bug Girl doll and that did not go well. It was a bit of a rude awakening for LB.
Here’s a rundown of what BIT is up to this month:
Height/Weight: With the oh so scientific method seen in the picture below, we’re measuring BIT right around 25 1/2 inches. And with the equally scientific “On the scale both with and without the baby” method, BIT clocks in around 14 lbs 8 oz. Which means she’s put on 4 inches and 5 pounds since birth. Way to go, BIT!!
Diapers/Clothes: We just transitioned BIT up to the size 3 Pampers, which is crazy. At this rate, we’ll have to make diapers out of bedsheets by the time she’s a year old. And I’ve packed up every single article of 0-3 month clothing too take to the secondhand store and try to sell. And even some of the 3-6 month stuff that is getting to short in the torso. Hopefully we’ll actually make some money selling the oodles of clothes and I can use it to get BIT something she needs, like enormous diapers. 🙂 Also, after unpacking all of the 3-6 month clothes we saved from the Littlest Brewster, I can officially say we shouldn’t have to buy BIT a single article of clothing for forever.
Eating: BIT is drinking 4 1/2 ounces or so every three-ish hours. We told daycare to feed her “on demand, usually every three hours”, which translates to two hours sometimes and four hours sometimes. At home with us, it’s usually every three hours on the dot during the day, unless she’s sleeping. But we’re not as interesting as daycare, so she’s not likely to forget a meal with us.
Sleeping: As I’m sure you all realized after yesterday’s post, BIT is having a few sleeping issues right now. She goes down really easily around 7, eats at 10, and should sleep until 4 or so. But lately she’s waking up around 2 and I don’t know why. I’m not willing to experiment with sleep habits during the week, so there will be a few weekends off trying different things (one arm swaddle, for instance) coming up. Because established shitty sleep during the week is better than unknown shifty sleep during the week. Naps, BIT is still pretty adaptable and willing to nap on the go. It would be nice if she retained that quality as LB did not and being a slave to the home nap sucks.
Doing Things: Obviously BIT is only three months old, so there’s not a whole hell of a lot she’s doing right now. But she is very focused on trying to stand (with your help) and seeing what’s going on around her. She’s not interested so much in being on her stomach and has zero interest in rolling over. She’s also found her voice and loves to have “conversations” with you, which is good as DB loves cooing back and forth with her. And she’s very ready with the smiles and will reward you with a big grin for minimal effort. She’s still not a big fan of being on her own or entertaining herself, but she’s getting better at it. Thank God.
