I apologize for the dearth of blog posts lately but life has been a little hectic and crazy here! What this means for being back on the wagon is that my progress this week, while still respectable, isn’t as rock solid as I would have hoped had I had a nice, stress-free week.
Alas, I think a nice, stress-free weeks is a chimera and I would be better served to practice dealing with the obstacles life throws at me rather than fantasizing about a world in which they don’t exist. But I digress. Here are this week’s Vital Statistics:
This week’s weight: 159.2 lbs
Weight loss since last week: 0.6 lbs
Total weight Loss to date: 0.8 lbs
So what worked – and didn’t – this past week? I was pretty good at packing my lunch and snacks for while I was at orientation for my new job. And I managed not to be led astray by the delicious-looking individual, customizable pizzas they had in the cafeteria. And I made a darn good effort at tracking every day. But I was kind of lax with my calorie intake this weekend – one day, for instance, MyFitnessPal said “If every day were like today, you would weigh 163 lbs in 5 weeks!” which certainly gave me the motivation to do better the next day. And I did make it to the gym three times (Wed, Fri, Sun) but I haven’t made it back since.
So what’s the plan for this coming week? Like I said, I’m starting at a new job; I’m officially out of general orientation and on my permanent unit as of today. This is kind of nerve-wracking for me as regards food because a) I don’t know what this unit’s policy is about snacking (will I have time? will they give me the side eye for not being able to go longer than 3 hours without food?) and b) I don’t know what sort of food storage there will be (will there even be room for my enormous lunch box?). But my plan is to just bring my big box with my snacks – better safe than sorry when it comes to food! I figure I’ll get the hang of it in a few days or so and will be able to plan/adjust accordingly.
Exercise-wise, I’m signed up for my first postpartum 5K this weekend! Super exciting, I know!!!! My dad and Kathy are going to come up and help the DreadBrewer wrangle the girls while I run in the Second Chance Pet Adoptions Furry 5K. I know without a shadow of a doubt that I won’t be able to run the entire thing without stopping, but I want to make a serious effort to run the vast majority of the course. My first 5K time was just under 30 minutes – and I’d love to hit that again – but I’m going to try not to beat myself up if I don’t make it. Besides the race, I’m planning on hitting the gym pre-work tomorrow and on whatever day I have off next week. That would give me 3 workouts and anything else I can fit in is just gravy.
Check back in and see how I do. And look for a post on Saturday about the race!
